    Direct hire opportunity for Burlington, VT or Detroit, MI areas.
    $75-100K (may go higher for more experience), full benefits, relocation if needed.

    Our client designs, machines, and fabricates custom rotating machinery for the nuclear industry as well as DoD projects.  They have been in business for 200 years and operating in the U.S. for 50 years.  Due to tremendous growth in the nuclear and DoD industries, they as looking to grow their Estimating group and have an opening for an additional Estimator.

    Overview:
    The Project Estimator will serve as a tactical leader with the purpose of producing high-quality cost estimates for Engineered Project and Services, which are highly mechanical in nature and include welding and machining.

    A strong background in precision machining and metal fabrication is needed to support quoting and cost estimation for complex components and assemblies.  You will analyze technical drawings, specs and customer requirements to develop accurate cost estimates, labor hours, material requirements and manufacturing plans.

    Requirements:
    • Due to Federal Contract Requirements, US Citizenship is required.
    • Background in machining, fabrication, or metal fabrication for a highly regulated industry.
    • Strong understanding of CNC machining, welding processes, fabrication and assembly methods.
    • 2+ years’ estimating experience, for tight tolerance, high reliability components.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and technical specs.

    Responsibilities:
    • Review RFQs, technical drawings, specs and customer requirements for machining and fabrication work.
    • Develop accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, outside processing, tooling and overhead.
    • Evaluate manufacturability of parts and assemblies  Including CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and complex assemblies.
    • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for submission to customers.
    • Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing to ensure estimates reflect current manufacturing capabilities and supplier costs.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities, alternate manufacturing methods, and process improvements.
    • Maintain estimating databases, including standard labor times, material costs and supplier pricing.
    • Ensure compliance with nuclear, Naval, and defense program requirements, including documentation and traceability.
