Machining Center Lead/Supervisor

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Machining Center Supervisor to join our dynamic team in South Bend, IN. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of our machining center, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The correct individual will come in as lead and after 90 days, and the determination that it is a good fit for all parties, we can move forward to the Supervisor title.
Our shop makes small fuel control parts for the aircraft industry, shorter runs, close tolerance work.
Current managment is interested in expanding production creating ample advancment opportunity. Managment has reinvested approximatley 2 millon in recent capital expenditures in the last 12 months as well as improving employee benefits.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of machining center personnel to ensure efficient production.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust workflows to meet deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and tools to maintain optimal performance.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
- Prepare and maintain accurate production reports and documentation.
- Address and resolve any personnel or production issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining preferred.
- Proven experience in a machining environment, with at least 8 years CNC machining, preferably most of it in milling (we can train the correct canidate to supervise).
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tools, and equipment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in using computer software for production management.
- Willingness to work overtime up to 55 hours (right now the department has been working 45-50 hours. Sometimes there are hot jobs if a peron volenteers to work on Saturday they can pick up 5 more hours of OT.
