Personnel Resources is hiring a Direct Hire General Manager for a CNC machining facility located in Huntsville, AL. Our primary customers are in the aerospace industry. In this position, the General Manager will execute the corporate strategic plan, with primary focus to lead, direct, and manage all aspects of the plant's machining operations, including production, scheduling, facilities/equipment maintenance, and other support functions. The position is accountable and responsible for achieving financial results, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction. The GM will be expected to maintain a continuous improvement environment to achieve an efficient operation, throughput generation, resource management, and control of operating expenses, while maximizing profitability. This is a full-time, on-site position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations:

  • Responsible and accountable leadership and support for all aspects of operations. Provide guidance on strategic and day-to-day direction to achieve operational excellence.

· Identify improvements in capital equipment, processes and personnel to yield efficiency, increase capacity/utilization, cost reductions, and quality improvements. Execute corporate plans to implement these improvements.

  • Ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with controlled manufacturing plans, in compliance with company quality system, ISO9001, AS9100 and customer standards and specifications.

· Provide leadership and solutions for production challenges related to materials, processes, tooling, equipment and priorities.

Financial:

  • Responsible and accountable to meet the company’s annual/quarterly/monthly financial commitments, objectives and targets. Fully understand and manage a P&L.
  • Strong understanding of the company’s financial and ERP system, production costs, standard cost methods, analysis of variation, monthly and annual financial goals and objectives.

Customer Service:

· Responsible for current and new customer growth objectives. Lead customer site visits, audits and interfaces with customer representatives to drive and grow relationships leading to strategic business growth objectives.

· Ensure that professional and prompt/timely responses are made to customer inquiries associated with all aspects of operational questions and concerns.

· Customer satisfaction measurements include on-time delivery, defect rate, and responsiveness to customer inquiries and concerns.

Quality:

· Responsible and accountable to meet the company’s quality objectives and provide support to the Quality staff. Actively demonstrates compliance to ISO 9001 and AS 9100, quality system requirements in day-to-day operations.

Facility:

  • Monitor all aspects of building maintenance by supervising and directing the maintenance staff. Oversee confidentiality, security, and physical safety of visitors and staff.
  • Company representative for contractors and/or their subcontractors, architects and others to ensure proper function of building, equipment and grounds. Ensure the facility meets all OSHA and other state and federal government regulations.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science with a concentration in science, mathematics, or manufacturing technology.
  • Engineering background preferred.
  • Experience in a CNC machine shop with aerospace customers preferred.
  • Experience in preparing quotes and scheduling jobs preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in operations, financial profit & loss (P&L) and leadership.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001and AS 9100 standards and processes.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret machining blueprints and specifications.
  • Familiarity with ERP Systems. Experience with Epicor preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively lead, manage and mentor in a manufacturing company.
  • Ability to understand, manage and present company financials.
  • Ability to work with multiple complex machining technical & process challenges simultaneously.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual, analytical, and complex problems.
  • Ability to implement strategic objectives (short and long term) and business goals for the organization, taking into consideration the mission of the organization.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization, customers and suppliers.
