Machine Shop Supervisor

A growing industrial fabrication and machining company in Northeast Louisiana is seeking a Project Manager to coordinate custom fabrication projects from planning through production and delivery. This is not a purely administrative PM position: the successful candidate will work closely with the shop floor, review drawings, coordinate materials and schedules, communicate with customers and actively monitor project progress.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review project scope, drawings and customer requirements and maintain alignment throughout execution.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and coordinate priorities with production personnel and other project managers.
• Build and maintain labor analyses and other basic project controls.
• Generate bills of material from prints and project documentation.
• Review drawings before release to production and identify issues that could affect execution.
• Participate in and lead project kickoff meetings so the team understands scope, timing and expectations.
• Walk active projects in the shop to verify that work is progressing according to plan.
• Coordinate material requirements and delivery timing with purchasing.
• Identify scope or process changes that may require a change order.
• Help resolve scheduling conflicts and production constraints before they affect delivery.
• Communicate project status and periodic updates to customers.
• Coordinate final weights, dimensions and shipment requirements.
• Support estimating and pre-project planning as needed.
• Maintain strong attention to quality, safety and customer requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 2 years of project management, project coordination or closely related experience.
• Industrial fabrication, machining, manufacturing or similar technical experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Strong organizational and multitasking ability.
• Good customer-relations and communication skills.
• Comfort working directly with shop and production personnel.
• Ability to respond quickly and critically when scope, schedule or production conditions change.
• Self-directed work style with the ability to manage multiple active priorities.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project or comparable business and scheduling applications.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Experience with custom industrial fabrication or machine-shop projects.
• Experience developing BOMs, coordinating material needs, assisting with estimating or supporting change orders.
• Background serving industrial customers such as pulp and paper, chemical processing, manufacturing or maintenance operations.

SCHEDULE

• Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 40-50 hours per week. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required based on project needs.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Approximately $65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
