Company Overview

Our client is a growing manufacturing organization seeking a dependable and safety-focused Press Operator to support production operations at its Louisiana plant. This role is essential to ensuring efficient machine operation, product quality, and adherence to safety and production standards.

Position Summary

The Press Operator is responsible for operating hydraulic press and packaging machinery to prepare products for storage or shipment. This role ensures product quality, maintains workflow efficiency, supports inventory accuracy, and upholds a clean and safe production environment.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, and maintains a high level of safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

  • Report to work 15 minutes prior to shift start to prepare for production.
  • Prepare product mixtures for manufacturing.
  • Operate hydraulic press and packaging equipment.
  • Start, regulate, monitor, and adjust machine operations.
  • Stop, reset, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and clear jams.
  • Monitor production flow to ensure efficiency and quality standards.
  • Conduct product weight and measurement checks to verify compliance.
  • Inspect finished goods and remove defective materials.
  • Prepare filler products and packaging materials for operation.
  • Remove finished products from machines and separate rejected items.
  • Label finished goods and palletized products appropriately.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet internal quality standards and production requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies and operational guidelines.
  • Alert Production Lead/Supervisor when adjustments exceed operator capability.

Inventory & Material Handling

  • Stock raw materials and packaging materials for machine operation.
  • Assist with cycle counts of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Track raw material usage, including waste, damage, and shortages.
  • Report material shortages or mechanical issues promptly.

Facility & Safety

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
  • Clean machines between product changes and at end of day.
  • Properly use required PPE at all times.
  • Assist with setup, startup, breakdown, and cleanup of production lines.
  • Support other production lines or departments as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1–3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per shift.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds (including 50 lb. buckets).
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, and turning.
  • Operation of safety gates and production controls.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments that may be dirty or greasy.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
