    Job Description: Woodworking Machine Operator

    1.0 PRIMARY FUNCTION

    Sets up and operates a variety of woodworking machines to surface, cut, and shape lumber and fabricate parts for wood products.

    2.0 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Selects, installs, and adjusts saw blades, cutterheads, boring bits, and sanding belts in respective machines using hand tools and measuring instruments.
    • Prepares, maintains, and operates woodworking machinery in accordance with production needs and safety standards.
    • Operates machines to saw, smooth, and shape lumber and wood parts to specified dimensions.
    • Verifies part dimensions and quality using gauges, rulers, and templates.
    • Assembles fabricated parts according to specifications or templates.
    • Sharpens machine cutting heads and tools as needed.

    • Reads and follows technical drawings, blueprints, and templates accurately.
    • Selects appropriate timber for each job and calculates required quantities.
    • Uses handheld saws, planers, and routers to cut and shape wood components.
    • Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

    • Actively participates in the organizations Continuous Improvement and Safety Programs.
    • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    3.0 QUALIFICATIONS

    3.1 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Understanding of different wood types and their properties.

    • Proficiency with a range of woodworking machines and hand tools.

    • Strong measuring, math, and accuracy skills.

    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

    3.2 Education and/or Experience

    • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

    • Some experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment preferred (may substitute equivalent hands-on experience), but not required.

    3.3 Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, bend, squat, and walk for 8-10 hours per day.

    • Lift up to 30 pounds as needed.

    • Regular exposure to a production and woodworking environment.

    3.4 Safety Requirements

    • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in 

      designated areas at all times.
