Machine Operator I

Location: San Diego, CA

Onsite Flexibility: Onsite

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 13 months
  • Pay Rate: $21.45 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:15 PM 10:45 PM PST

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Machine Operator will operate manufacturing equipment according to established specifications, standard operating procedures, and work instructions. An operator must demonstrate steady progress in learning all equipment and jobs in the assigned manufacturing area. He and/or she must also exhibit the ability to follow instructions of the supervisor while observing the quality of raw and finished goods before, during, and after production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor functions of equipment and operate per documented procedures including maintaining operational logbooks
  • Provide technicians with symptoms of equipment failures, when required
  • Assist in Preventative Maintenance (PM) following procedures
  • Support material handling as necessary
  • Maintain segregation of materials and lot and/or receiving numbers
  • Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Adhere to and demonstrate compliance to all company and department standard operating procedures including but not limited to: GMP, device history record, hazard communication, and safety rules
  • Utilize written procedures and training to accomplish tasks noted above
  • Accept full accountability for product quality
  • Report to supervisor or management unsolved problems encountered during the workday
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of work-in-process, component inventories, and relative documentation

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Required Experience

  • Entry-level candidates strongly preferred; no prior machine operation experience required
  • Open to recent High School graduates or GED recipients
  • Manufacturing, warehouse, production, assembly, or other hands-on experience is acceptable but not required
  • Candidates with demonstrated longevity and stability in previous employment preferred
  • Preference for candidates with at least 1 year tenure in prior roles when applicable

  • Reliability, consistent attendance, and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions from a supervisor
  • Ability to observe quality of raw and finished goods before, during, and after production

Important Notes

  • Onsite interview during 2nd shift hours; approximately 1 hour; conducted by hiring manager and production leads; includes facility walkthrough/tour
  • Candidates with CNC machining/operator backgrounds will not be considered for this role
  • Candidates with extensive job-hopping patterns (multiple short-term roles over several years) are generally not preferred
