    Ink Department Technician – 3rd Shift

    Location:Pittsburg, KS

    Position Overview
    Stand-By Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Ink Department Technician to support a manufacturing operation in Pittsburg, KS. This position plays an important role in ensuring inks are accurately mixed, tested, labeled, and prepared according to production schedules and established quality standards.

    The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with inks and chemicals, and able to accurately follow formulas and specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
    Required Experience & Skills
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • 1–3 years of related manufacturing or technical experience preferred
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed work instructions
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
    • Trade or technical training is a plus
    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    • Mix inks according to established formulas, color standards, and production requirements
    • Verify, label, and stage inks according to press schedules
    • Prepare press-ready inks within required tolerances
    • Maintain accurate ink inventory and monitor material usage
    • Properly manage and store hazardous waste materials
    • Ensure ink and chemical containers are accurately labeled and compliant with applicable requirements
    • Maintain ink databases, formulas, color samples, and production records
    • Assist with press approvals and production readiness activities
    • Support production teams and participate in pre-press planning activities
    • Identify opportunities to reduce ink costs, minimize waste, and improve production efficiency
    • Participate in research, development, and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
    • Follow all company safety, regulatory, and production policies
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience handling inks, chemicals, coatings, pigments, or similar materials
    • Familiarity with scales, densitometers, light booths, or related measuring equipment
    • Previous printing, packaging, or manufacturing experience
    • Experience maintaining formulas, samples, or technical production records
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on quality and efficiency
    Material Handling
    • Safely handle ink containers and production materials
    • Utilize hand trucks, barrel dollies, and other material-handling equipment as needed
    • Maintain organized inventory and staging areas
    • Follow established procedures when handling chemicals and hazardous materials
    Physical Requirements
    • Frequent standing, reaching, and detailed use of hands throughout the shift
    • Occasional walking, climbing, balancing, crouching, and other physical activity
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
    • Strong visual abilities, including color accuracy and depth perception
    • Comfortable working around inks, chemicals, production equipment, and manufacturing materials
