PGS Worldwide is seeking Machine Operators in Owego, New York for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will operate light-duty machining and production equipment while performing basic setups, adjustments, inspections, and quality checks. Machine Operators will work with close-tolerance components using prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures in a precision manufacturing environment.
Required Skills
- 1–2 years of relevant manufacturing, machine operation, or production experience.
- Experience operating light-duty machine tools or production equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to follow established manufacturing and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to inspect work using gauges, jigs, fixtures, or similar measurement tools.
- Ability to work accurately with close-tolerance components.
- Ability to work one of the available shift schedules.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience performing precision work requiring visual acuity and/or use of microscopes.
- Experience with numerically controlled machining equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Operate bench- and floor-type machine tools and production equipment.
- Operate equipment such as small lathes, power mills, drills, punch presses, power brakes, shears, saws, or similar machinery.
- Set up machines and make basic operating adjustments as required.
- Perform routine machine maintenance activities.
- Inspect completed work using prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures.
- Verify components meet specified dimensional and quality requirements.
- Monitor machine performance and identify production or quality issues.
- Support statistical process control and other established quality-control procedures when applicable.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow applicable manufacturing, safety, and work instructions.
Work Schedule / Shift
Three shift options are available:
- Second Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM.
- Weekend First Shift: Thursday–Sunday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM.
- Weekend Second Shift: Thursday–Sunday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM.
Pay
- $18.00–$21.00 per hour, depending on shift.
