This hourly role follows the Scotts step pay progression scale and typically starts at $24.50 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

The Machine Operator will be working at our mulch and soil production plant in Orrville, OH, and will be responsible for operating our bagging lines.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Operate and maintain mulch and soil bagging lines.
  • Operate a forklift to transport materials.
  • Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in their assigned area.
  • Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift.
  • Perform routine safety and quality checks.
  • Solve daily operations problems with limited supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples & equipment operations.
  • Support all plant operations, potentially including but not limited to operating a front-end loader for cutting sphagnum bales and pushing up bulk piles, operating a loader for making bulk mixes and loading hoppers, operating a dozer for yard maintenance, and hand packing cases on the small pack line.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one plus years of production plant experience is preferred.
  • Able to identify all materials used, detail oriented, follow safe practices and procedures, ability to read English and or follow directions
  • Able to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/ rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, and be able to climb ladders and work on their feet for the entire day.
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.
