Position Description – Machine Operator
Responsible for the wire-drawing process to ensure requirements of the work order and production schedules are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs start-up and shut-down process
• Inspects wire at the beginning of the process and cuts wire at appropriate point to finish work order and/or when a bobbin is full
• Measures wire periodically using a micrometer to ensure consistent tolerance
• Visually inspects the process continually to spot and correct/report problems
• Uses portable welding equipment and other processes to connect ends of coils
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment within area of knowledge or refers problem to maintenance
• Operates overhead crane to position bobbin at the front/end of the process
• Performs daily housekeeping duties to keep area clean and free of safety hazards
• Performs other duties and required

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for the wire-drawing process as an operator to ensure that productions schedules are met. Responsible for following all safety and quality control procedures. Refers to new and unusual situations to the area lead person or supervisor. Follow all policies and instructions.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education: High School or GED
Experience: Prefer some previous experience of one year in manufacturing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:              

• Must have interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and to effectively communicate with others.
• Must be able to use instruments such as micrometers and scan gun.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.

 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Physical Demands:      Must be able to push, pull, and lift to 50 lbs. routinely. Must be able to work up to 12 hours. Must be able to be on feet all shift.
Visual, Hearing and Dexterity Demands: Must have normal hearing. Must have normal visual acuity with the ability to distinguish colors and depth perception.
Working Conditions:Noisy and dusty environment. Can be subject to variations in heat normal for a non-air-conditioned manufacturing environment.
