Machine Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operators to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating production equipment, inspecting products for quality, performing light assembly and finishing tasks, packaging completed products, and ensuring all production documentation is completed accurately. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, quality-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Quality
- Review and follow work instructions, checkpoint sheets, and production requirements.
- Obtain all necessary tools, supplies, and materials for assigned production jobs.
- Operate assigned machinery and monitor production output.
- Sort molded parts from runners and inspect products for defects.
- Perform quality checks and measurements using applicable gauges and inspection tools.
- Handle products carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Complete post-mold operations such as trimming gates, removing flash, cleaning excess material, and light assembly.
- Package products according to specifications and accurately count parts when required.
- Complete packaging labels, production worksheets, and other required documentation.
Team Support & Communication
- Communicate production issues, equipment concerns, or quality problems to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Assist with shift changeovers by reviewing job status and production requirements with incoming operators.
- Provide relief coverage for other Machine Operators during breaks or as directed by supervision.
- Assist with training new Machine Operators when requested.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and operating instructions.
- Adhere to ISO 2015 procedures and all company policies and regulations.
- Clean workstations and remove debris and personal items at the end of each shift.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and understand basic work instructions, correspondence, and production documents.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and follow detailed instructions.
Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous plastics manufacturing experience.
- Prior machine operation or production experience.
Physical Requirements
- Strong hand-eye coordination.
- Frequent use of knives, cutters, and trimming tools.
- Repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and reach throughout the shift.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to reach overhead and retrieve materials or packaged products.
Visual & Hearing Requirements
- Ability to perform close visual inspections of products and read production documents.
- Ability to recognize changes in machine sounds and notify appropriate personnel when necessary.
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing environment where duties may vary based on production schedules and staffing needs. Employees may be assigned additional tasks or special projects consistent with their skills and qualifications.
