Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Operator to join our manufacturing team in Elburn, IL.
In this role, you will operate sheet metal fabrication equipment and assist in producing high-quality metal components while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with assembly, shearing, punching, press brake operations, polishing, and detailing using hand and power tools.
- Set up fixturing, reference points, tool registers, and offsets.
- Select appropriate tools based on job setup documentation.
- Monitor and adjust tool offsets to maintain part accuracy.
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Use critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve problems.
- Operate precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers.
- Measure and inspect completed work to ensure it meets specifications.
- Complete fabrication tasks within established time frames.
- Monitor production timelines using color-coded status indicators.
- Perform or report necessary machinery maintenance.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Provide input on design improvements and report drawing discrepancies.
- Work with management to establish operational goals and standards for continuous improvement.
- Perform additional metal fabrication duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including floors, work surfaces, machinery, and tooling.
- Arrive ready to work, dressed appropriately, and equipped with required PPE.
