Job Title: Machine Operator
Department: Production / Operations
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Operations Manager
Location: Elyria, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time [Shift: 1st / 2nd / 3rd Shift]
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our production team in Elyria, Ohio . In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining industrial machinery to manufacture high-quality products according to specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, places a high priority on safety, and works well in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate equipment [e.g., CNC machines, press brakes, extruders, stamping presses, packaging machinery] according to production schedules and specifications.
Quality Control: Inspect raw materials and finished parts using precision measuring tools [e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges] to ensure they meet quality standards and engineering drawings.
Setup & Adjustments: Adjust machine settings, tooling, feeds, and speeds to optimize efficiency and product accuracy.
Routine Maintenance: Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication on assigned machines; troubleshoot minor operational issues.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Documentation: Maintain accurate production logs, material tracking, scrap counts, and quality control reports.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with shift supervisors, quality assurance teams, and maintenance staff to keep operations running smoothly.
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training.
Experience: [1–3+] years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with standard measuring devices [calipers, micrometers, tape measures] .
Basic shop math and basic computer entry skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to [50 lbs] periodically throughout an 8- to 12-hour shift.
Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and close-up visual acuity.
Work Ethic: High attention to detail, strong punctuality, safety-first mindset, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience in automotive, metal fabrication, plastics, or heavy manufacturing equipment.
Valid Forklift / Material Handling Certification.
Prior experience with [specific machine brand/controller, e.g., Haas, Fanuc, Allen-Bradley] .
