Job Title: Machine Operator $18/HR


Job Description


Join a dynamic team as a machine operator, where you will learn all aspects of pipe fabrication, including cutting, threading, and flanging ductile iron pipes for water treatment plants and related projects. This entry-level position involves operating a large lathe machine to process pipes used in major construction projects for water infrastructure.


Responsibilities


+ Operate and manage a large lathe machine for pipe fabrication.

+ Cut, thread, and flange ductile iron pipes for water treatment plants.

+ Ensure precision and quality in pipe processing.

+ Collaborate with a small team to fulfill project requirements.

+ Participate in field services including taps, line stops, and AVT valve insertions.


Essential Skills


+ Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine operations.

+ Experience with general labor and hand tool usage.

+ Familiarity with blueprint reading.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience running a manual lathe is a plus.

+ Knowledge of the water/wastewater industry or plumbing is desirable.

+ Nice-to-have experience with heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.

+ Ability to learn overhead crane and forklift operations.

+ Experience in tolerances and blueprint/schematics is advantageous.

Work Environment


Work in a small shop with 6-8 total employees in Bettendorf and 42-52 employees across the Midwest. The shop environment may be dirty at times with various machines and piping. Steel-toe boots and jeans or long pants are required as part of the dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.


Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
