JOB TITLE: Machine Operator
LOCATION:Kinston, NC
PAY RATE: $28/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Summary: 

  • Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.

  • Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments for machining operations.

  • Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.

  • Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.

  • Operates Conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment including milling, drilling, boring, honing, and grinding operations.

  • Deburrs part surfaces and performs related finishing operations.

  • Performs routine minor machine maintenance including filter replacement, bulb changes, and lubrication/coolant level maintenance.

  • Trains and assists employees of the same or lower classification level to support continuous flow of products.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

  • At least 3 years of machine operator experience.

  • Ability to operate a variety of machine tools to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

  • Experience with Conventional and Computerized Numerical Controlled (CNC) equipment.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.

  • Experience using machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

  • Knowledge of station safety, quality (FOD), and OSHA regulations.

  • High School Diploma or GED, or WorkKeys Assessment completion.

  • Preferred: 5+ years minimum experience in aviation production.

  • Preferred: Experience with CNC 5-axis machines and training from a vocational school.
