What You'll Do as a Machine Operator:- Operate machining equipment, which may include vertical or horizontal mills, lathes, and Swiss machines
- Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements
- Set machine controls for factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, and other measuring equipment
- Complete required production paperwork and computer entries while working with team members to resolve machining issues
What You Need to Bring to the Machine Operator Role:- At least 1 year of related machining experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-year machining degree preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and understand machining dimensions and tolerances
- Familiarity with CMM, GD&T, and SPC practices
- Ability to stand frequently and bend or twist occasionally throughout the shift
- Ability to frequently lift 1–10 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and rarely lift up to 50 pounds
