Now Hiring: 1st Shift Machine Operators in McPherson, KS

Schedule: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.

Job Summary

This role is specific to the McPherson, KS location. We are seeking skilled machine operators, including saw operators, press brake operators, and laser and plasma operators. As a critical member of our manufacturing team, you will transform raw materials into precision-engineered components. You will expertly set up and operate specialized machinery, ensuring precision in technical execution and administrative tasks such as time tracking, material requisition, and maintaining a safe work environment. You will report directly to the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines and identify materials for job performance.
• Complete material requisitions accurately.
• Produce parts to quality standards using appropriate equipment.
• Enter time and labor reports daily.
• Handle materials, tools, and equipment manually or with a jib crane.
• Layout, cut, and fit parts for welding as required.
• Fabricate new metal components in compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Develop innovative solutions to client situations while maintaining safety and stability.
• Maintain tools and equipment to professional standards and keep workstations clean.
• Coordinate workflow with team members and third-party agents.
• Maintain high-quality standards as determined by quality and engineering standards.
• Manage workflow, meet deadlines, and troubleshoot problems daily.
• Employ physical strength and endurance for all machining tasks.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.

General Duties

• Comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
• Fabricate small components.
• Complete production and quality assurance forms.
• Participate in team meetings and discussions.
• Interface with engineering to communicate information accurately.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities.
• Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements.
• Follow and maintain 5S activities.
• Read and comprehend procedures written in English.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• 3-5 years in a custom build shop preferred.

Technical Skills

• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Proficiency in operating a computer for data input and reading.
• Skill in using hand tools and reading measuring devices.
• Ability to read and interpret 3D prints/schematics.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for approximately 10 hours per day.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
