The Machine Operator 1 in the Door Building Department is primarily responsible for preparing materials, assembling door units, and supporting the efficient production of high-quality finished doors. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, has strong attention to detail, excellent attendance, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Operate saws and other cutting equipment to accurately cut door frame components and materials according to specifications and work orders
• Pull, verify, and stage hardware, components, and materials required for door assembly
• Assemble door units according to customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules
• Read and interpret work orders, production paperwork, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate product completion
• Inspect materials and finished products for quality, accuracy, and defects throughout the assembly process
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment required for door production
• Maintain organization of hardware, materials, and workstations to support efficient workflow and inventory accuracy
• Assist with material movement and staging of completed door units for the next phase of production or shipment
• Perform basic measurements and verify dimensions to ensure products meet required specifications
• Identify and report quality, equipment, or safety concerns to department leadership
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies and housekeeping standards
• Work closely with team members and department leadership to meet production goals and customer expectations
• Assist in other production areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant operations
What We're Looking For
• Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, production schedules, and assembly drawings
• Ability to perform basic math calculations and use measuring devices accurately, including tape measures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Punctual with excellent attendance and dependability
• Willingness to learn and follow established safety and quality procedures
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business needs require
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in door assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing operations
• Experience reading shop drawings, cut lists, or production specifications
• Familiarity with inventory control and material handling processes
• Forklift experience preferred but not required
• Experience working in a production-driven environment with safety and quality performance expectations
