Job Summary:

A growing manufacturer of industrial machinery is seeking a skilled Machine Builder & Field Service Technician for a first-shift opportunity in Elk Grove Village. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with experience in mechanical and electrical assembly who is also open to occasional travel (approximately 10–15%).

This position will primarily focus on building and assembling equipment in-house, with additional responsibilities supporting customers in the field, including installation, troubleshooting, and technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of industrial machinery and equipment
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of spare parts as needed
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone and on-site visits
  • Travel to customer locations for installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment
  • Train customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with engineering to communicate recurring issues and recommend improvements
  • Maintain tools, parts inventory, and service documentation
  • Follow all safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or trade school certification preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience building industrial machinery
  • Prior field service experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
