Position Information

Winthrop Position Title Macfeat Classroom Assistant F26 Job Purpose

To assist the lead teacher and teaching assistant in Macfeat Early Childhood Laboratory School classrooms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist the lead teacher as directed or planned in the following ways:

A. implement lesson plans.

B. supervise small and large group activities as needed.

C. gather and prepare teaching materials.

D. attend to daily routines: toileting, dressing, snack, lunch, rest, and others.

  1. Supervise learning activities in the following ways:

A. actively participate with the children at all times.

B. enforce safety rules.

C. support children through the conflict resolution process.

  1. Cooperate with the lead teacher in establishing and enforcing Macfeat's guidance policy.

  2. Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment by organizing and cleaning classroom materials, supplies and equipment as requested.

  3. Satisfy requirements described in South Carolina Childcare Licensing Regulations and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation requirements.

  4. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in one of the following programs:

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Elementary Education
  • Special Education
  • Human Development and Family Studies
