    Medical Assistant/Surgery Scheduler

    The START Center for Cancer Care is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Surgery Scheduler to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care while coordinating surgical procedures and supporting providers in a fast-paced specialty practice.

    We are looking for an individual who is organized, patient-focused, and able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities while ensuring a positive patient experience.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Room patients and obtain vital signs, health histories, and medication information.

    • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations and procedures.

    • Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical supplies.

    • Document patient information accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).

    • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, consultations, and follow-up appointments.

    • Communicate with hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, patients, and insurance companies regarding scheduling needs.

    • Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance requirements related to procedures and surgeries.

    • Provide patients with surgery instructions and relevant pre-operative and post-operative information.

    • Maintain accurate scheduling records and ensure timely completion of required documentation.

    • Answer patient calls and address scheduling inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.

    • Support providers and clinical staff with additional administrative and clinical duties as needed.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

    • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.

    • Minimum of one year of medical assisting and/or surgery scheduling experience preferred.

    • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance authorization processes.

    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
