LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a hands-on System Administrator for a fully remote direct-hire opportunity with a growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who has personally designed and implemented complex Microsoft 365 and infrastructure solutions and is comfortable taking ownership of technical outcomes from initial requirements through implementation, documentation, and support handoff.

This is not a service desk or routine maintenance position. The team is looking for a strong Microsoft 365 administrator who can assess an existing environment, identify and prioritize improvements, make sound technical decisions, and personally implement changes that improve security, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support Microsoft 365 and infrastructure solutions across identity, endpoint management, collaboration, security, cloud services, and infrastructure operations.

  • Assess existing environments and identify opportunities to improve security, reliability, scalability, automation, and supportability.

  • Lead technical projects from requirements gathering and design through implementation, testing, documentation, handoff, and ongoing support.

  • Configure and administer Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Defender, Purview, and related Microsoft 365 services.

  • Support identity and access management, including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, and role-based access controls.

  • Improve endpoint management, device configuration, patching, application deployment, and policy enforcement.

  • Support Microsoft Azure services related to identity, governance, security, and operations.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues across users, devices, applications, cloud services, and network-connected systems.

  • Develop runbooks, SOPs, knowledge base articles, and technical documentation.

  • Train junior IT and help desk staff and provide effective knowledge transfer for implemented solutions.

  • Identify opportunities for scripting, automation, and process improvement that reduce manual work and recurring support issues.

  • Communicate technical recommendations, risks, and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365, infrastructure, endpoint, identity, or cloud-based solutions.

  • Proven experience personally designing and implementing complex Microsoft 365 or infrastructure solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to take technical projects from requirements gathering through implementation, documentation, handoff, and support.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, including:

  • Entra ID

  • Exchange Online

  • SharePoint Online

  • OneDrive

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Intune

  • Defender

  • Purview

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including identity, governance, security, and operations.

  • Experience with identity and access management, endpoint management, security, compliance, and production troubleshooting.

  • Strong documentation, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical outcomes within a small IT team.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Relevant Microsoft certifications are a plus.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate solutions they personally designed, built, and implemented. They will be comfortable inheriting an existing environment, assessing what needs improvement, prioritizing the work, and driving projects through completion.

This person should also understand that a successful implementation includes documentation, knowledge transfer, and making the environment easier for the broader IT team to support after the project is complete.
