The immediate priority is improving the governance and organization of more than 2,000 SharePoint sites, many of which have outdated ownership, inconsistent permissions, and limited oversight. This consultant will create a roadmap for future-state governance while helping the organization prepare for an operational audit later this year.

This is a highly visible role requiring someone who can both execute technically and provide architectural guidance and best practices.
Responsibilities

  • Identify inactive or orphaned SharePoint sites and develop consolidation and cleanup strategies.

  • Create governance documentation, standards, and operational processes that support long-term scalability.

  • Develop a future-state Microsoft 365 governance roadmap and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to improve collaboration and data management practices.

  • Prepare documentation and implementation plans to support an upcoming operational audit.

  • Assist with Azure administration and Microsoft cloud initiatives as needed.

  • Serve as the technical advisor for Microsoft 365 governance and SharePoint best practices.
Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience administering and engineering Microsoft 365 environments, with significant expertise in SharePoint Online.

  • Strong experience designing and implementing SharePoint governance frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of:

    • SharePoint Online administration

    • Site provisioning standards

    • Permission modeling

    • Access reviews

    • Information governance

    • Site lifecycle management

  • Experience auditing and reorganizing complex Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Ability to assess existing environments and recommend scalable future-state architectures.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical leadership and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure administration or architecture.

  • Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, or Power BI).

  • Microsoft 365 or Azure certifications are a plus.

  • Previous consulting experience leading Microsoft 365 modernization or governance initiatives.
Ideal Background
Candidates who have worked as a Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer, Microsoft 365 Consultant, SharePoint Architect, Collaboration Architect, or Microsoft Cloud Consultant will be especially well suited for this opportunity.

Experience with organizations undergoing Microsoft 365 governance transformations or large-scale SharePoint clean-up initiatives is highly desirable.
