    Role: M&A Software Integration Consultant / Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant
    100% Remote (USA/Canada)
    Job Type: W2 Contract
    Description:
    • We are seeking an experienced M&A Software Integration Consultant to lead post-acquisition software portfolio assessments, supplier optimization initiatives, compliance evaluations, and software integration strategy activities.
    • This role will work directly with enterprise stakeholders across Software Asset Management (SAM), Procurement, Vendor Management, Finance, IT, Security, and Architecture teams to evaluate software estates of newly acquired companies and align them with enterprise software standards.
    • The ideal candidate combines business consulting, software licensing knowledge, supplier management, and post-merger integration experience to identify cost synergies, mitigate compliance risk, and support strategic software integration decisions.
    Software Estate Visibility & Assessment
    • Lead software onboarding and assessment activities for newly acquired companies.
    • Coordinate collection and review of software contracts, subscriptions, licenses, support agreements, and supplier information.
    • Validate software inventories and establish baseline software spend and entitlement positions.
    • Identify duplicate, overlapping, non-standardized, and unauthorized software assets.
    • Develop current-state software portfolio assessments for executive stakeholders.
    Software Cost Optimization & Synergy Identification
    • Evaluate acquired software portfolios against enterprise standards.
    • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and software rationalization.
    • Develop business cases and estimated savings models for optimization initiatives.
    Supplier & Contract Risk Assessment
    • Assess software supplier portfolios for business, operational, and compliance risks.
    • Review software agreements for renewal exposure, contractual obligations, and unfavorable terms.
    License Compliance & Audit Readiness
    • Review software licensing assessments and compliance findings.
    • Evaluate audit exposure, entitlement gaps, and potential true-up liabilities.
    • Collaborate with SAM and IT Asset Management teams to assess compliance posture.
    Supplier Portfolio Rationalization
    • Categorize software suppliers into Strategic, Tactical, and Exit candidates.
    • Develop target-state supplier landscape recommendations.
    • Support enterprise software standardization initiatives.
    Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Management
    • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and acquisition review sessions.
    • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
    • Develop executive reporting materials and business outcome scorecards.
    Required Qualifications:
    • 6-10+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Software Asset Management (SAM)
    • IT Vendor Management
    • Strategic Sourcing
    • Technology Consulting
    • Software Licensing
    • M&A Integration
    • IT Procurement
    • Experience supporting software portfolio assessments during mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
    • Strong knowledge of software licensing models, subscriptions, maintenance agreements, and software supplier management.
    • Experience identifying software cost optimization and rationalization opportunities.
    • Understanding of software compliance, audit readiness, and licensing risk management.
    • Strong stakeholder management and executive presentation skills.
    • Experience developing business cases, financial analyses, and strategic recommendations.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro and IT Asset Management.
    • Familiarity with major software publishers including Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Adobe, Salesforce, VMware, Atlassian, and similar vendors.
    • Experience supporting post-close integration programs.
    • Knowledge of ITIL, Software Asset Management, Procurement, and Vendor Management best practices.
    • Consulting background within a professional services organization.

    • Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)

    • ITIL Foundation or Higher
