    St. Martha Catholic School in Okemos is seeking a part-time (not to exceed 18 hours per week) Lunch Supervisor.  This position reports to the Principal and is during the school year (August-June).
     
    General Summary:

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and student-centered Lunch Supervisor who is committed to creating a positive experience where students feel respected, supported, and cared for. 
     
    The Lunch Supervisor is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining a safe and welcoming lunch environment for students in accordance with Ingham County Health Department and State of Michigan food safety regulations. This position oversees student behavior during lunch periods, collaborates with staff and volunteers, ensures proper food handling procedures, and maintains a clean and organized lunchroom environment.
     
    Lunch is delivered from Lansing Catholic High School each day. The Lunch Supervisor will work alongside parent volunteers to prepare and serve meals while ensuring students experience a calm, respectful, and safe lunch period. This position generally requires 2–2.5 hours per day during the school year (August–June).
     
    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
     
    Student Supervision & School Environment
    • Support and uphold the mission and Catholic identity of St. Martha Catholic School while fostering a safe, respectful, and welcoming lunch environment.
    • Supervise and support students during lunch, including those with diverse needs, while promoting positive behavior and school expectations.
    • Collaborate with staff and volunteers through effective communication and teamwork.
    • Model kindness, patience, responsibility, and respect consistent with St. Martha’s values.
    Food Preparation & Service
    • Receive and safely transport delivered meals, prepare the lunchroom for service, and ensure all food is handled and served in compliance with Ingham County Health Department and State of Michigan regulations.
    • Prepare and distribute student meals in an organized manner while maintaining accurate lunch records.
    • Coordinate with Lansing Catholic High School regarding meal supplies, including milk and condiments.
    Food Safety & Sanitation Responsibilities
    • Maintain required ServSafe and ServSafe Allergens Certifications and follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
    • Properly handle, prepare, and serve food using required hygiene practices, including handwashing, glove use, and safe food handling.
    • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen and lunchroom environment, including proper cleaning of equipment, surfaces, and serving items.
    • Monitor and document refrigerator temperatures and complete required food safety records.
    Lunchroom Cleaning & Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lunchroom environment by sanitizing tables, cleaning spills, sweeping floors, and properly caring for kitchen equipment and supplies.
    • Complete routine cleaning tasks, including washing trays and maintaining food service areas according to safety standards. 
    • Complete and submit required paperwork and documentation to the school office. 
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
     
    Education:   High school diploma required. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
     
    Experience: Experience working with children is preferred. Experience in food service, school environments, or childcare settings preferred.
     
    Required:    Must complete and pass: ServSafe Certification and ServSafe Allergens Certification Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures while maintaining a clean and safe environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills with students, staff, and volunteers. Must pass a criminal background check and complete the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS program. 
     
    Physical Demands:  The employee is expected to work on-site in the school lunchroom and kitchen areas. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, and move throughout the lunchroom and kitchen environment.
     
    The employee must be able to:
    • Lift and transport heavy food pans and supplies.
    • Stand for extended periods while preparing and serving food.
    • Move safely through kitchen and dining areas.
    • Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks.
    • Respond quickly to student needs and safety concerns.
