The Wethersfield Public Schools are seeking candidates for the role of Lunch Period Aide at various Elementary Schools. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated professional with superior communication skills to fill this role. This position is vital to our schools as our aides have regular and constant interaction with our students and staff.

Position: Lunch and Recess Aide

School: District (Elementary Schools)

Reports To: Principal

Start Date: Immediately

Hours: 11:00am 2:00pm (Times may vary around this window and depending on the school - generally 3 hours per day)

Compensation: $18.95 per hour worked

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as adult supervision in the cafeteria during the lunch period;
  • Encourage students to behave in a safe, positive and respectful manner;
  • Monitor and immediately address student issues that require intervention and corrective action;
  • Constantly move throughout cafeteria to support and interact with students in a positive and friendly manner;
  • Escort and supervise students during lunch recess, ensuring safe and appropriate play during the recess period;
  • Work collaboratively with both the school staff and cafeteria staff;
  • Report issues and opportunities for improvement to school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff;
  • Strong verbal communication skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Ability to model a respectful and courteous demeanor for our students;
  • Willingness and ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required by the position;
  • Ability to lift, bend, walk and observe in support of our students.
