JOB

PURPOSE

SUMMARY:

The

Lube

Technician

is

responsible

for

performing

routine

maintenance

tasks

such

as

checking

fluid

levels,

supporting

preventive

maintenance

efforts,

and

maintaining

accurate

service

records

for

district

vehicles.

This

role

requires

the

ability

to

work

independently,

respond

to

road

calls,

operate

basic

computer

systems,

and

assist

with

general

shop

duties

as

needed.

The

technician

must

provide

their

own

tools

and

be

willing

to

support

other

departments.

KEY

FUNCTIONS,

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES,

AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

Duties:

1.

Maintain

accurate

updated

records

of

preventative

maintenance.

2.

Must

furnish

your

own

hand

tools

and

toolbox.

3.

Maintain

safe

working

conditions

and

correct

unsafe

conditions

or

report

any

that

are

not

correctable

to

your

supervisor.

4.

Be

available

for

road

calls

during

shifts

and

after

hours.

5.

Ability

to

work

with

minimal

supervision.

6.

Check

fluid

levels

of

buses

on

the

lot.

7.

Clean

shop

and

empty

garbage

cans.

8.

Open

and

close

entrance

gates.

9.

Support

wash

bay

facility,

repair

seats,

etc.

when

needed.

10.

Willing

to

attend

classes

as

needed.

11.

Provide

support

as

a

Cover

Driver

when

needed.

12.

Must

be

computer

literate

and

able

to

learn

new

software

programs.

13.

Perform

other

duties

that

may

be

assigned

by

the

Mechanic

Coordinators,

Assistant

Director

of

Fleet

Services,

or

the

Director

of

Transportation.

vehicle

repairs,

and

maintenance

activities

performed

accordance

regulations,

Safety

(DPS)

and

Department

Transportation

(DOT)

PHYSICAL

REQUIREMENTS

&

WORKING

CONDITIONS:

This

position

requires

the

ability

to

work

primarily

outdoors

or

in

a

vehicle

maintenance

facility,

exposed

to

varying

weather

conditions

(heat,

cold,

rain).

Physically

demanding

work

involving

standing

for

long

periods,

bending,

lifting

heavy

parts

or

equipment

(often

50+

lbs),

and

using

ladders

or

tools.

May

require

exposure

to

vehicle

fluids,

cleaning

chemicals,

and

mechanical

parts,

requiring

use

of

personal

protective

equipment

(PPE)

like

gloves,

safety

glasses,

and

hearing

protection.

This

is

a

noisy,

fast-paced

environment,

working

around

operating

buses

and

machinery.

May

be

required

to

work

early

mornings,

evenings,

or

weekends,

including

after-hour

road

calls

or

during

emergency

situations.

This

position

also

includes

regular

interaction

with

drivers,

mechanics,

and

supervisors,

requiring

clear

communication

and

attention

to

detail.

Tasks

include

reading,

seeing,

speaking,

hearing,

listening,

organizing,

interpreting

data

and

information,

typing

using

a

computer

keyboard

and

mouse,

viewing

a

computer

monitor

for

extended

periods,

and

occasional

use

of

a

telephone.

Periodic

operation

of

a

motor

vehicle

on

public

roadways

to

and

from

various

trouble

shooting

locations

may

be

required.
