What Youll Do:
This position is supervisory work directing skilled workers engaged in the construction, repair, and maintenance of a public water distribution system. Crews respond to emergency repair of water mains, valves and fire hydrants on a 24 hour/7 days per week basis. Work involves underground excavation of water mains with various utility conflicts and in close proximity to traffic. Other duties include coordinating scheduled and unscheduled water outages with customers, protection of water quality and maintaining sanitary and safe work sites, inspection and supervision of contractors, participation in ongoing technical training and employee performance monitoring. Experience and knowledge in underground excavation work, traffic control, and repair of pressurized water distribution systems is desired. Ability to read and interpret plans, work in extreme weather conditions and accurately prepare work and payroll documentation.
This Safety Sensitive position is subject to Mandatory Drug Testing policies as a condition of employment.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. On-call as scheduled.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent and at least 2 years experience in the construction, repair, and maintenance work of a public utility; or equivalent.
Necessary Special Requirements: Possession of a valid drivers license. Possession of a commercial drivers license (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment.
