REPORTS TO: Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES: To help reduce or eliminate speech, language, and hearing impairments that interfere with learning, and provide direct service to meet individual needs of speech, language, and hearing-impaired students
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for language, oral and/or assisted communication and speech/language maintains efficient records including the preparation of reports as required by local and district policy
ABILITY TO: communicate effectively with teachers, students, administration, parents/guardians, doctors, and other professionals in the community who are involved with the students solve practical problems with students and staff understand and carry out oral and written directions identify, analyze, solve and organize work to meet deadlines
KNOWLEDGE OF: all areas of speech, language and aural rehabilitation assistive technologies effective use of computer and relevant educational software applications interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
