Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Public Safety and Transportation, in collaboration with the Dean of Pathways and Workforce Development, this individual will deliver instruction in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program and related public safety areas (LTE three-year term). This individual will also serve as Program Administrator of accreditation and Practicum Coordinator for clinical and field internship placement. The successful applicant will be expected to provide lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction according to institutional needs and will be responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, review, planning, and development for the EMS program. Responsibilities will be at the Rhinelander Campus and multiple designated outreach locations with variable hours that may include day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Instruction
- Develop, maintain, and deliver instruction in academic programs, workforce development, and K12 settings in accordance with the mission, vision, and philosophy of Nicolet College in the above-described instructional areas.
- Curriculum development and revision to keep content relevant and students engaged.
- Maintain courses in WIDS (Worldwide Instructional Design System) and Nicolet College's LMS (Learning Management System).
- Participation in Nicolet College's program review process.
- Support students in every aspect of their coursework. Provide regular and substantive interaction with students.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with students to maximize their motivation and engagement in courses.
- Responsible for classroom and clinical instruction, including compliance with policies and procedures of state, federal, or other external agencies.
- Plan, develop, and schedule courses and related activities.
Instruction-Related Support
- Perform Program Director and Practicum Coordinator duties required by CAAHEP and CoAEMSP policies and procedures.
- In collaboration with Institutional Effectiveness, manage required accreditation reporting and distribute accreditation reports for the Nicolet College Emergency Medical Service program.
- Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program.
- Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development.
- Orientation/training, and supervision of clinical and capstone field internship preceptors.
- Identify students who may qualify for Credit for Prior Learning and Experience (CPL)and administer CPL challenge exams.
- Prepare for and participate in Advisory Committee meetings.
- Coordinate the maintenance and ordering of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Professional Development and Service to the College
- Participate in department, program, and college-level activities, projects, and committees.
- Maintain all required faculty qualification assurance standards for the Wisconsin Technical College System and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
- Maintain professional affiliations and certifications.
- Apply and adhere to regulatory requirements from CoAEMSP/CAAHEP, DHS, DOC, DOJ, DSPS, NFPA, NREMT, OSHA, and other applicable agencies.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities that support ongoing development as an EMS educator.
- Collaborate with public safety faculty, administrators, and WTCS to improve courses through program review, curriculum and course development, assessment of student learning, and feedback from public safety and EMS advisory committees.
- Support and promote agreements and pathways with high schools and four-year colleges.
- Participate in program marketing and recruitment to drive student enrollment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of WI DHS 110 EMS regulations and WI DSPS requirements affecting public safety employees.
- Advanced knowledge of WTCS EMS programs and working knowledge of Fire and Criminal Justice program policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of American Heart Association Training Center requirements and administration.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, curriculum design, and workforce/economic development, including industry partnerships and career pathways.
- Knowledge of National EMS Scope of Practice, National EMS Education Standards, and evidence informed clinical practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively; communicate clearly in writing and speech; actively listen; and build positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills; ability to perform complex tasks accurately and read/produce written documentation.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems, Learning Management Systems, email/calendar platforms, Teams, Zoom, and related Work with diverse student, employee, and community populations.
- Flexibility in schedule, including availability for evening and weekend assignments.
- Promote an educational philosophy that places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in public safety, public administration, health, education, ora related field.
- Licensed at the Paramedic level in the state of WI at or above the level taught with current NREMT certification.
- Current certification in health care provider CPR and ACLS.
- Academic training and/or experience equivalent to an EMS provider.
- Documented experience or education in instructional methodology.
- Professional experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care.
- Ability to be approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as an EMS Program Administrator.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public safety, public administration, health, education, ora related field.
- Postsecondary teaching experience.
- Experience with program administration and accreditation processes.
- Currently approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as an EMS Program Director.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS Instructor (American Heart Association).

Compensation:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, $71,800- $84,023. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
