Shifts available: 6 am - 230 pm OR 1 pm - 930 pm Weekend rotations

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Correctional Healthcare

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a dedicated correctional healthcare team in Wisconsin. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide quality nursing care to an underserved patient population while working in a structured, collaborative, and clinically focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated patients in accordance with established nursing standards, facility policies, and provider orders.

  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions safely and accurately.

  • Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, responses to treatment, and changes in health status.

  • Conduct intake screenings, health assessments, and ongoing patient evaluations.

  • Assist with chronic disease management, preventative care, and routine healthcare services.

  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies and urgent healthcare needs.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation within electronic medical record systems.

  • Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and security protocols at all times.

  • Provide patient education, support, and health promotion guidance to encourage wellness and treatment compliance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current, active, and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of correctional nursing experience.

  • Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to undergo, pass and maintain a background check.

Preferred

  • Experience working with diverse, underserved, or vulnerable populations.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.

  • Previous experience in behavioral health, public health, emergency care, or chronic disease management.
