Summary
Sunshine Community Health Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our interdisciplinary care team. The position provides direct clinical nursing support and specialty nursing services within the scope of practice established by the State of Alaska Board of Nursing.
Working within a patient-centered medical home, the nurse uses a collaborative, team-based, and trauma-sensitive approach to provide compassionate and effective care. This position supports continuity of care, quality improvement efforts, patient education, and the ongoing development of clinical support staff.
Specific responsibilities will be assigned in accordance with the license, scope of practice, experience, qualifications, and demonstrated competencies of the individual selected.
Essential Duties
Provide direct clinical nursing support to patients within the individuals licensed scope of practice and State of Alaska Board of Nursing regulations.
Collaborate with providers and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
Provide specialty nursing services based on patient needs and nursing scope of practice.
Perform patient assessments and clinical procedures appropriate to licensure and demonstrated competency, including wound care, injections, specimen collection, and other nursing services.
Administer medications and provide medication-related patient education within applicable nursing scope and organizational policy.
Provide patient education regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up needs.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and support continuity of care across healthcare settings.
Support a trauma-sensitive, culturally responsive, and patient-centered approach to care.
Participate in quality improvement activities and implementation of established quality standards.
Collaborate with providers, nurses, clinical support staff, and the Quality team to identify opportunities to improve patient care and clinical processes.
Provide guidance, training, and support to clinical support staff as appropriate to licensure, experience, and assigned responsibilities.
Maintain required licensure, certifications, clinical competencies, and annual competency requirements.
Promote a safe, professional, respectful, and collaborative clinical environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
Graduation from an accredited nursing education program appropriate to the license held.
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Knowledge of State of Alaska Board of Nursing regulations and applicable nursing scope of practice.
Experience providing direct clinical support and nursing services preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Demonstrated clinical judgment, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills appropriate to licensure and experience.
Experience with or ability to effectively use electronic health record systems.
Ability to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care.

Compensation varies based on nursing licensure and experience:
Actual starting pay will be determined based on licensure, directly relevant experience, qualifications, and SCHCs compensation structure.
