Skills/Abilities:

  • Service oriented with a strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in small teams with the ability to adjust priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Great phone answering and customer support skills; knowing how and when to de-escalate if needed
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Identify cabling types, CAT3, CAT5, CAT6, MMF, SMF, and fiber connector terminations
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills along with the ability to interact with employees, customers and vendors
  • Communicate concisely and promptly with customers and team members to resolve issues
  • Adaptability and willingness to perform additional duties
  • Enjoys a technical challenge; as well as a curiosity that motivates you to keep on top of technical trends
  • Ability to develop and follow directions/procedures, documentation, maintain deadlines/schedules, anticipate problems, and proactively take necessary action
  • Comfortable and able to lift 60-75 lbs, climb ladders, work overhead, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Flexibility to be on-call and part of the escalation team as needed
  • Working in a 24X7 environment, being on-call and responding outside of normal business hours may be required for emergency coverage

  • Execute tasks in a timely and proper manner, in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and our processes/procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide infrastructure support including Installation, termination, troubleshooting, testing, labeling, and decommissioning of CAT5/6 Copper and Fiber cabling (including multimode and single mode) and patch systems to defined standards.
  • Installation/removal of Cage, Cabinets, Ladder Rack, Fiber Tray (installer)
  • Ability to connect equipment onsite to activate new customer (site install)
  • Evaluate remote customer sites against a checklist criterion to perform a site survey
  • Evaluate site needs vs site requirements in advance of installation (site survey)
  • Complete electronic documentation of all work completed for change requests and incidents. Report status via email and ticketing system
  • Familiar with common network management and troubleshooting tools (e.g. ping, traceroute)
  • Maintain proper inventory management of equipment coming in, equipment going out, asset tags, and vehicle resupply
  • Monitor and execute daily operational activities needed to manage IT services and support IT infrastructure such as daily walkthrough of data center checking for failures and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and Cameras.
  • Investigate root causes of problems, determine their appropriate workarounds or permanent solutions, document them, and communicate them to other NOC team members.
  • Serve as primary dispatch escalation for network infrastructure service desk tickets.
  • Develop and follow an MOP, anticipate problems and proactively take necessary action (LIST on all)
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned in support of the NOC teams objectives.
  • Ability to provide job estimates for low voltage proposals

  • Design, test, and implement network changes to support organizational projects and growth.
  • Actively contribute to network design and NOC process improvements.
  • Hands on technical support of routers, switches, servers and firewalls in a data center environment
  • Troubleshooting and application of 2- and 3-layer technologies
  • Familiarity with architectural specifications
  • Familiarity with researching communication networks
