Join a mission that safeguards buildings, people, and uptime
Be the hands‑on expert who brings complex life‑safety and physical security systems to life. In this role, you’ll blend precise installation with sharp diagnostics and customer‑facing communication—moving seamlessly between fire alarm, access control, intrusion, and IP video/CCTV technologies.
Your Impact
- Commission reliable, code‑compliant fire alarm systems—from panel programming to device testing and final turnover
- Secure facilities with well‑executed access control: readers, contacts, REX, strikes, maglocks, and controllers
- Deploy and troubleshoot IP video/CCTV and intrusion systems to ensure clear visibility and accurate detection
- Build robust infrastructure: pull, route, terminate, label, and test low‑voltage cabling; perform concrete drilling and limited conduit bending
- Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical layouts to deliver installations that match design intent
- Diagnose wiring, programming, communications, and equipment issues on both new and legacy systems
- Document work meticulously; collaborate with Installation Team Leads and Project Managers on schedules, equipment, and project milestones
- Support pre‑installation planning and provide technical escalation on‑site and remotely
- Work safely and to standard—meeting local, state, federal, electrical, fire, and life‑safety requirements; follow company, customer, and OSHA policies
What It Takes
- Commercial experience with fire alarm, access control, intrusion, IP video/CCTV, or broader low‑voltage systems
- Independent installation, testing, troubleshooting, and service capabilities
- Working knowledge of low‑voltage wiring, terminations, devices, control panels, and system communications
- Comfort with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 and applying them in the field
- Skill with meters, hand/power tools, and drills; ability to work from lifts at ~20–60 feet
- Clear communication and customer‑service mindset; self‑directed at customer sites
- Tech‑savvy with smartphones, laptops, email, spreadsheets, and electronic work‑management systems
- Valid driver’s license meeting company driving requirements; reliable transportation during initial training before a company vehicle is issued
- Basic PPE and a reliable technician tool kit
Credentials That Elevate You
- NICET strongly preferred
- State Life Safety, Fire Alarm, Physical Security, or related license where required
- Manufacturer certifications are a plus
Don’t let missing credentials hold you back—strong hands‑on commercial experience is highly valued.
Systems You Might Touch
Fire Alarm: Notifier, Fire‑Lite, Simplex, EST/Edwards, Siemens, Gamewell‑FCI, Silent Knight, Honeywell, Bosch, or comparable platforms
Access Control / Security: LenelS2, Genetec, Software House/C•CURE, Avigilon, AMAG, Brivo, DMP, Honeywell, Bosch, HID, or comparable platforms
Depth in any single manufacturer isn’t required—transferable life‑safety, security, electrical, and low‑voltage skills are what matter.
Schedule, Travel, and Environment
- Local/regional focus with roughly 20–30% travel; occasional overnights
- Primarily day shift near 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with some night/weekend/off‑shift work based on project or customer needs
- Active commercial construction and operational facility settings
Career Path
Grow across multiple technologies—fire alarm, access control, intrusion, IP video, networking, and integrated security—balancing new installations, service, and commissioning.
