Ready to power the next generation of heavy equipment?
A leading heavy equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Low-Voltage Electrical Systems Engineer to design, develop, and validate electrical systems for large-scale mining loaders. This is an opportunity to work on advanced off-highway equipment, solve complex electrical engineering challenges, and contribute to reliable, high-performance machines operating in demanding environments.
You'll collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to develop electrical architectures, optimize system performance, and bring innovative equipment from design through testing and validation.
The Low-Voltage Electrical Systems Engineer will lead the design and development of low-voltage electrical systems for mining equipment, including electrical architectures, schematics, wiring harnesses, and component specifications. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with vehicle electrical systems, CAN networks, grounding, shielding, and electrical validation.
System Design & Engineering
Design low-voltage electrical architectures, schematics, wiring harnesses, and component specifications.
Establish grounding, shielding, and CAN signal requirements.
Create and maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs).
Testing, Validation & Collaboration
Troubleshoot electrical system issues identified during prototype builds and validation testing.
Support reliability improvements and FMEA activities to ensure performance in harsh operating environments.
Quality, Safety & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve design issues and support product launches and continuous improvement.
Maintain clear engineering documentation and follow applicable product safety, quality, and company standards.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
3+ years of experience in low-voltage vehicle electrical system design.
Working knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring harness routing, CAN networks, grounding, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) practices, and FMEA.
Ability to manage priorities, communicate technical findings, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience with off-highway construction or mining equipment.
Exposure to hybrid or electric equipment platforms.
Experience working with international engineering or supplier teams.
Experience with prototype validation, root-cause analysis, and structured design reviews.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Technical documentation and attention to detail.
Sound engineering judgment.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Collaboration, accountability, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
This is primarily an office-based engineering role involving computer-aided design, analysis, and engineering reviews, with occasional visits to prototype, testing, and manufacturing environments. These visits may involve standing, walking, PPE, and exposure to noise, moving equipment, or varying temperatures.
Travel: Occasional travel, up to 25%.
Competitive compensation based on experience.
Eligibility for an annual performance bonus, subject to the approved compensation plan.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Paid time off.
401(k) savings plan.
Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
Company-paid short-term and long-term disability benefits.
Life insurance.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
