    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Lot Technician Manager (LTM) owns the physical readiness, organization, and presentation of Doug Smith Kia's vehicle inventory and dealership grounds. This role directly supervises the lot attendant/porter team and is the operational link between vehicle acquisition and the showroom: preparing every new, used, and trade unit for delivery or front-line merchandising, maintaining lot and facility standards, and ensuring inventory-related compliance items are in place before a vehicle is offered for sale. The LTM works in close daily coordination with the Used Car Manager to keep the reconditioning-to-frontline pipeline moving and to protect merchandising and regulatory compliance on all pre-owned inventory.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lot Organization & Inventory Presentation

    • Maintain overall lot organization — straighten rows, park like models together, and keep CPO units clearly organized and easy to locate

    • Conduct routine lot walks to confirm every unit is presentable, correctly positioned, and merchandising-ready

    • Pick up trash throughout the lot as needed and pull weeds between scheduled lawn care visits

    • Assign and manage keys through the key box for the sales and used car teams

    Frontline Readiness & Recon Support (coordinated with Used Car Manager)

    • Complete delivery prep on all incoming new, used, and trade vehicles: wash and dry, vacuum, and wipe down dash and windows

    • Check in vehicles at delivery, inspect for damage, and turn in the bill of lading

    • Support the Used Car Manager's reconditioning process by prioritizing detail and prep work on units in the recon pipeline and flagging bottlenecks that could delay front-line readiness

    • Coordinate photo capture of all pre-owned inventory both pre-shop and after detail, and deliver photos promptly to keep online merchandising accurate and current

    Merchandising & Compliance Support

    • Ensure all vehicles carry required license plates and stickers, including a properly completed FTC Buyers Guide on every used unit before it is offered for sale

    • Partner with the Used Car Manager during lot walks and inventory audits to confirm 100% merchandising and compliance coverage on used inventory

    • Flag any unit missing pricing labels, Buyers Guides, or merchandising materials to the Used Car Manager for correction

    Facility

    • Purchase, organize, and restock waiting area amenities

    • Keep seating areas, tables, and trash receptacles clean and tidy

    • Organize and set up Kia point-of-sale showroom items

    Team Leadership

    • Hire, train, and manage lot attendants/porters

    • Manage timecards and approve schedules

    • Ensure adequate staffing coverage throughout all hours of operation

    • Report lot readiness, recon support turnaround, and staffing status to the Used Car Manager and GSM as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior experience in a dealership lot, porter, detail, or similar automotive role required

    • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred

    • Working familiarity with FTC Used Car Rule / Buyers Guide requirements preferred

    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable coordinating across Sales, Service, Detail, and Used Car departments

    • Ability to lift/move items up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

    • Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule including some Saturdays

    Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience
