Job Summary

Under the direction of the site administrator, the Substitute Teacher - Physics provides instructional support to students in secondary Physics courses in grades 9-12. The substitute teacher follows the teacher s established lesson plans, curriculum, classroom procedures, and school expectations while providing a safe, productive, and engaging learning environment. The position includes taking attendance, supervising students during classroom activities, monitoring student progress and work completion, and communicating relevant student or classroom concerns to the appropriate site administrator or regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher works cooperatively with school staff and performs other duties as assigned. Applicants should possess the ability to: Follow and implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher. Provide effective instructional support in Physics and related science concepts. Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. Maintain appropriate standards of student behavior. Work effectively with high school students in grades 9-12. Provide individual and small-group assistance to students as appropriate. Facilitate classroom discussions, demonstrations, activities, and laboratory experiences. Properly and safely use science equipment and materials. Maintain accurate student attendance and classroom records. Communicate effectively with students, school staff, administrators, and the regular classroom teacher. Exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality concerning student information. Work cooperatively with school personnel and follow District and site policies and procedures.
