QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:High School diploma or equivalent required, educational coursework preferredMichigan driver's license and ability to drive to perform dutiesAbility to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writingEvidence of successful experience working with studentsWillingness to work with students in a multilingual setting and from diverse backgroundsCommitment to learn instructional techniques to meet individual student needsBasic knowledge of content area skillsDemonstrate strong collaborative and problem solving skills to work as part of a team to support student success in classroom learning and activitiesOrganizational skills to balance demands of a multi-tasking positionExperience using technology and educational softwareAble to maintain flexible hours to adjust working time to meet student needs DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESImplement appropriate instructional and support services available through the district's Title Ill program for English Learners.Consult regularly with EL teacher and/or classroom teachers to determine the academic needs of English Learners, migrant and immigrant students enrolled in their classes.Participate in district required meetings and in-service training.Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher and building administrator.
