Long-Term Substitute: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

The Durand-Arkansaw School District is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered individual to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher in it''s Early Childhool program at the elementary school.

Position Details

• Assignment: Early Childhood Special Education

• Location: Caddie Woodlawn Elementary School

• Duration: The entire 2026-27 school year

• Reports to: Elementary Principal

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Support

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on IEP goals and the Essential Elements
• Provide direct instruction in academic, social/emotional, functional and behavioral skills
• Adapt curriculum and assessments to meet student needs
• Utilize evidence-based practices to deliver specially designed instruction

IEP Case Management

• Serve as the case manager for assigned students with IEPs
• Coordinate and lead IEP meetings in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and support needs

Collaboration

• Consult and collaborate with staff to support inclusive practices
• Work closely with related service providers (OT, PT, SLP, etc.) to integrate supports
• Participate in problem-solving teams and data-based decision-making processes
• Guide and manage paraprofessionals to support students across the school environment

Behavior Support

• Implement positive behavior interventions and supports
• Develop and monitor behavior intervention plans
• Support classroom and school-wide behavior systems to promote a safe and inclusive environment

Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain accurate records related to IEPs, services, assessments, and parent communication
• Complete progress reports, reevaluations, and other compliance documentation in a timely manner
• Stay current on special education laws, policies, and best practices
