    Description

    The adaptive physical education teacher will provide direct services to students with disabilities, including but not limited to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

    Responsibilities Include: Designs and directs adaptive physical education classes Prepares relevant gross motor and gym class materials Adapts activities and equipment to meet the unique needs of each student Provides instruction on motor skills, fitness, and overall physical development Collaborates with classroom teachers and other related service providers to support student progress Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure

    Preferred Skills: Experience with adaptive and mobility equipment Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies

    Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education preferred Valid Physical Education PreK-8 License through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred Certification by the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) preferred
