Logistics Supervisor (Afternoon Shift)

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a skilledLogistics Supervisor (Afternoon Shift). This role is responsible for overseeing material flow and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring production receives the right materials on time while managing logistics operations and team performance.

Job Duties

• Lead hourly logistics and material-handling teams to support daily operations and maintain safety standards
• Manage the receipt, storage, movement, and staging of materials to meet production schedules
• Monitor inventory levels, identify discrepancies, and conduct cycle counts to uphold accuracy
• Coordinate with production, planning, and quality teams to address material shortages and resolve issues proactively
• Develop contingency plans for potential disruptions such as supplier delays or staffing constraints
• Oversee trailer, dock, and point-of-use material flow to optimize efficiency and eliminate waste
• Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean tools such as 5S, visual management, and problem-solving techniques
• Maintain clear shift-to-shift communication regarding material needs, risks, and priorities

Skills & Experience

Required

• Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing, logistics, or material control
• Strong understanding of inventory management and production flow processes
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and manage hourly team members
• Knowledge of inventory systems and production planning tools
• Effective problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
• Ability to analyze performance data and respond to changing production needs
• Experience working with unionized teams and understanding of contractual work rules
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and address issues proactively

Desired

• Experience in unionized or high-volume manufacturing environments
• Background in automotive or complex manufacturing sectors
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience managing production shortages, inventory discrepancies, and logistical challenges
