Description

Our client, a supply chain and distribution company, is hiring a Logistics Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations at their Fairfield, New Jersey facility. This role is responsible for managing inbound and outbound freight, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring inventory accuracy across a mid-sized distribution center.

The Logistics Manager will supervise a team of warehouse supervisors and coordinators, monitor performance against delivery and cost targets, and work closely with procurement and customer service teams to resolve shipping issues. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organizational skills and comfort working in a fast-paced operations environment.

The company operates a regional distribution network serving customers across the Northeast. This position reports to the Director of Operations and plays a key role in maintaining service levels during a period of company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily inbound and outbound shipping operations
  • Manage relationships with freight carriers and negotiate rates
  • Supervise warehouse supervisors and coordinators
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and coordinate cycle counts
  • Track key performance metrics including on-time delivery and cost per shipment
  • Resolve escalated shipping and delivery issues
  • Implement process improvements to increase warehouse efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or related field
  • 5 or more years of experience in logistics or warehouse management
  • Experience supervising a team of 10 or more employees
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems and inventory software
  • Strong understanding of freight carrier negotiations and routing
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
