Job Description:
What you'll be doing:
- Acts as a liaison between the Propulsion/Mechanical Ground Support Equipment engineering team and a variety of external vendors and subcontractors, as well as internal procurement, subcontract administration, material management, and budget/finance teams.
- Works with vendors to help communicate hardware needs from engineering teams and requests part number, cost and lead time data.
- Validates that part numbers and requirements from engineering matches documentation from vendor and resolves discrepancies.
- Tracks cost estimates, actual costs, hardware lead time estimates, and actual lead time.
- Submits and/or tracks purchases, task statements, and statements of work.
- Tracks need dates and identifies potential schedule issues, then coordinates amongst internal and external teams to reach a resolution and ensure schedules are met.
- Reaches out to vendors to find alternate sources if needed.
- Ensures alignment between teams on procurement priorities. Identifies and escalates discrepancies such as missed delivery dates, incorrect part numbers or quantities, or missed/incorrect requirements.
- Provides direct support to suppliers, the factory, and the launch site to ensure procurement and fabrication schedules are met, streamlines operations to improve efficiency.
- May assist in communication on required end point for hardware delivery.
What skills you'll need:
- This position requires a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
- Ability to work under general supervision to determine and develop solutions to a variety of problems.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Candidates with a strong skill set in Excel, Powerpoint, SAP, and Teamcenter are preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Builds trust with teammates, can prioritize and execute tasks effectively for self that are aligned to program plans, and has the ability to respectfully give and receive constructive criticism.
- Desire to work directly with technical teams in support of procurement efforts on Cryogenic and Pneumatic Fluid systems as well as Mechanical systems.
- Must be available for periodic travel to the other client sites or vendors. Must possess a valid driver's license to drive between work locations on a military base where public transportation is not available.
