Description

Job Title: Shipping Coordinator

Employment Type: Contract

Location: Odessa

Compensation: $20–$23/hour

Schedule: Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Work Pattern: 11 days on / 3 days off (off every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Job Summary

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for managing day-to-day shipping and receiving operations to ensure all freight moves safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role coordinates logistics, maintains inventory accuracy, and oversees shipping documentation to support efficient warehouse and yard activities. The position has a direct impact on on-time delivery performance, customer satisfaction, and overall operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily outbound and inbound shipments, including scheduling carriers and arranging pick-ups and deliveries
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels
  • Monitor and track shipments from dispatch to delivery, proactively resolving delays or issues with carriers
  • Oversee receiving activities, including unloading, verification, and recording of incoming materials and products
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through timely data entry, cycle counts, and reconciliation of discrepancies
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, and stage products safely and efficiently
  • Communicate shipment status and exceptions to internal stakeholders, vendors, and carriers
  • Support continuous improvement of shipping and receiving processes to enhance accuracy, safety, and throughput

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in shipping coordination, logistics, or warehouse operations
  • Strong background in logistics coordination, freight scheduling, and shipment tracking
  • Demonstrated experience with inventory management in a warehouse or distribution environment
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing shipping and receiving documentation
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Solid computer skills, including warehouse/inventory management systems and basic office software
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or oilfield-related environments
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and carrier compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of lean or continuous improvement practices in warehouse or logistics operations
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems or RF-based inventory tools

Education & Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Forklift certification required, or ability to obtain certification prior to or shortly after start
  • Additional training or coursework in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations preferred
