Primary attention and focus are on placing Commercial spots according to Agency instructions using careful attention to detail and precision. The Log Coordinator is also responsible for organizing the breaks in a systematic way so that the On-Air Look is attractive, informative, and fresh.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Placement (60%)

  • Using Landmark, organize and arrange all Commercial Spots in accordance with the client's instructions and based on Priority Tokens.
  • Work with inventory to place any Limbo Spots, preempting any that cannot be placed with an appropriate reason.
  • Provide feedback to the Commercial Ops Team on any Programming limitations or impact on inventory affecting successful placement of Spots, always working in a way to garner more Revenue.
  • Ensure that competitive advertisers are not placed back-to-back and that advertisers receive as fair a rotation as possible.
  • Review and adjust placement of Commercial Spots based on client-specific restrictions not achieved by the system's line booking process.
  • Manage the specific placement of key advertising sponsors' ads and Creative insertions within Original Programming and other high-priority Network's Programming.
  • When placing spots, be cognizant of each country's governmental time regulations, manipulating breaks manually to abide by the minutage restrictions.
  • Verify that all Commercial spots exported from Landmark are imported into Vision successfully.
  • Facilitate late Commercial orders, revising Log as needed to add additional revenue.

Commercial Timing and Log Prep (20%)

  • Once Programming is available for the month ahead, create Schedules about 14 days in advance of air for planning and Commercial Timing.
  • Based on Segment times for each hour, Commercial Breaks will be adjusted by either adding time or removing time to make the Log time equal to 24 hours.
  • The Log will be reviewed carefully to ensure the correct Templates are in place for each Program scheduled and that Ad Sales has the appropriate number of avails in key hours to maximize revenue.
  • Request Programming changes as needed to ensure there is a balance of Ad and Promo time throughout each Log.
  • Frequent modification of the Logs is needed as Programming adapts the Schedule based on weekly ratings reports.
  • The Final Breaks will then be sent to the Sales system and updated throughout the month due to material updates and Programming changes.

Scheduling Ad Sales, Navigational and Legal Graphics (5%)

  • Using Vision, implement the Ad Sales Secondary Event Strategy based on the client's request and confirm the scheduling of Graphic Elements on the Log to Sales Planners.
  • In addition to scheduling these pieces, check and confirm that Automatic Secondary Events such as Menus, Next On's, and Legal Disclaimers are in the correct place within each Log and for each Channel, Feed, and region.

Collaboration with Media Planning / Interfacing with Grip-it (5%)

  • Manually schedule any specific Promotional stunts promoting Original Programming and high-priority Networks Programming.
  • Work with Media Planning Team to upload a Promo file for each Log consisting of reserved Promo time and unsold Sales time.
  • Verify Promo file transfers accurately from system to system.
  • Work with the Media Planning team to understand Programming priorities and manually implement any Promo changes requested after the initial file has been uploaded.

Exact Time and Final Log Review (10%)

  • Verify again that all elements have uploaded successfully from each of the respective systems into the Log.
  • Review the Log for any gaps or overlaps, adjusting as needed to ensure each show starts and ends at its scheduled time on the programming grid, and the Log adds up to a complete 24-hour Schedule.
  • Confirm that all elements have accurate placement within the schedule and/or specific Programs.
