    Description

    Specialty:

    • Hospitalist – Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

    Coverage Needs:

    • ASAP – ongoing
    • Potential for extension
    • Block scheduling preferred

    Shifts:

    • Day shifts: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
    • Night shifts: 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
    • Scheduling may include weekends and federal holidays
    • Seven-on/seven-off blocks may be available

    Call:

    • No additional call outside scheduled shifts

    Setting:

    • Veterans Affairs Medical Center in North Dakota
    • Adult and geriatric inpatient population
    • Acute inpatient medical care
    • Patients may have multiple chronic conditions and complex medical histories

    Census:

    • Approximately 10–15 patients per day
    • Admissions and patient volume may vary by shift

    Support Staff:

    • Established hospitalist and interdisciplinary care teams
    • Nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, case management, social work, and specialty support
    • Residents or advanced practice providers may provide additional support

    Procedures:

    • Inpatient admissions, daily rounding, discharges, and care coordination
    • Management of common acute and chronic medical conditions
    • Participation in rapid responses and codes as assigned
    • Basic inpatient procedures may be required
    • No obstetric or pediatric coverage

    EMR:

    • CPRS and/or the VA’s Oracle Health electronic health record, depending on the facility

    Board Certification:

    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
    • Family Medicine physicians may be considered with recent hospitalist experience

    Travel:

    • Facility will cover approved travel and lodging expenses

    Credentialing Timeline:

    • Approximately 60–90 days
    • Expedited onboarding may be available for candidates with clean files

    Requirements:

    • Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
    • Active DEA registration
    • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
    • Recent inpatient hospitalist experience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain VA clinical privileges
    • Successful completion of federal credentialing and background screening
    • Previous VA experience preferred but not required
