LocumJobsOnline is working with Barton Associates to find a qualified Urgent Care MD in California!
Our client in California is actively seeking an Urgent Care Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant for an 80-day assignment. This role involves working Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, focusing on the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, and various viral illnesses. The chosen clinician will perform focused respiratory assessments, determine appropriate treatment plans, and provide essential follow-up care and patient education.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
- Manage a wide range of conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, URI, influenza, COVID/viral illness, persistent cough, sinusitis, and pharyngitis
- Perform focused respiratory assessments, including pulse oximetry, and determine appropriate treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing such as chest X-rays and basic labs
- Prescribe medications, including inhalers, antibiotics, steroids, and nebulizer treatments when clinically appropriate
- Initiate and adjust inhaler therapy, providing comprehensive patient education
- Conduct rapid testing for COVID, flu, RSV, and strep, as available
- Provide oxygen assessment and supplemental oxygen management
- Identify patients requiring a higher level of care or emergency department transfer
- Provide follow-up care and patient education for chronic respiratory disease, including smoking cessation counseling
- Participate in care coordination and facilitate referrals to outside specialists when needed
- Support the clinic’s community health and culturally competent care initiatives
