Responsibilities
Sign Language Interpreters provide interpreting and other support services for pupils who are deaf or hard of hearing in the education environment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate communication among deaf or hard of hearing students (DHH) and their hearing peers, teachers, and other school personnel
- Provide tutoring and/or note-taking services
- Follow the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment guidelines of professional conduct for Educational Interpreters
- Carry out classroom management or individual behavior plans as designed by the classroom teacher and/or IEP team
