Responsible for the operation of trucks and vans for the pick-up and delivery of products to/from the warehouse, agencies and grocery stores. Assists in the day-to-day warehouse operations including the receiving and distribution of food products.
Must have a valid GA Driver’s license with a good driving record. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions including heat and cold.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ TASKS:
Picks Up and Delivers Product: - Operates non-CDL vehicles in a safe manner picking up and delivering food products and associated items to and from the warehouse, agencies, stores and events.
- Provides pick-up of food barrels and containers of food from food drive sponsors.
- Ensures the products picked up are weighted, temperatures are maintained at a safe level and delivered according to all safety standards.
- Verifies accuracy of product picked up and maintains records of activities
- Interacts in a courteous, respectful manner with agency personnel, grocery store staff and volunteers in the pick-up and delivery of food.
- Resolves problems associated with the pick-up and delivery of food products.
- Communicates and receives approval of Branch Manager or Branch Assistant on changes in schedule of product pick-up and delivery.
Handles, Load/Unload Product:
- Ensures products are loaded/unloaded, weighted, transported and stored safely and according to all SHSGA, Standard Operating Procedures, and all regulatory requirements.
- Receives donations, unloads and inventories products and completes reports for processing in computer system.
- Ensures disposal of unsalvageable products and completes associated paperwork
- Ensures agency orders are correctly pulled, loaded into vehicles and delivered in a safe manner.
- Conducts daily inspections and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
Vehicles Operation: - Conducts safety checks of vehicles and ensures problems are reported and addressed in a timely fashion.
- Maintains clean vehicles ensuring all food is transported in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Locks down all products to ensure the safe transport of items.
Sanitation, Cleanliness, Audit compliance: - Assists in meeting sanitation, pest control, fire prevention, safety standards, completes applicable log check sheets for safety compliance.
- Ensures sanitation requirement are met according to USDA, FDA, Feeding America, AIB and auditor standards
- Performs cleaning schedule to meet standards.
- Ensures disposal of unsalvageable products.
- Corrects violations of standards and problems and/or reports to supervisor for remediation
- Maintains daily temperature charts for warehouse coolers and freezers.
- Safe operation of warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, stand-up riders and forklift to move and load products.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent amount of training and experience. Experience in use of warehouse equipment including fork lift, stand up rider and pallet jack.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
This is work requiring the exertion of a significant amount of force constantly to move objects, up to 25 pounds of force frequently and some work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Work requires stooping, reaching above shoulder, fingering, grasping, pulling, bending, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging information and instructions by means of the spoken work; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for driving, reading signage, maps and instructions, writing reports, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. This work may be subject to adverse environmental conditions including cold and heat, rain and snow to drive as well as to load/unload products and materials.
